A Tesco shelf stacker has been able to quit his job after scooping an incredible £1.3 million ($1.6m) from a £6 ($7.50) bet. Nicely done, eh?

Jason Mandara, says he was able to tell his manager he wouldn't be coming in to work, explaining, 'boss, I'm a millionaire'.

Jason said he played Megajackpots Cleopatra on the Betfred mobile app, after finishing his shift and waiting to pick up his kids.

His six quid bet, netted him a whopping £1,305,269 and meant he was able to hand in his notice at Tesco, where he had previously worked for 12 years.

The man was able to hand in his notice at Tesco.

Thirty-year-old Jason, from Bedworth in Warwickshire, told the Daily Star: "I can't believe what has happened.

"This kind of money is going to change my life forever.

"My partner Sian, who I've been with for seven years and is a shop assistant who has always worked very hard like me, still doesn't believe what has happened."

He added: "I had a spare five minutes in my van after getting to the school to pick up the kids.

"I felt lucky so had a go on the slots because I could see that a £1.3 million jackpot was up for grabs.

"I was panicking at first when I'd won that much and kept it to myself.

"I went to bed early because I was so tired after my Tesco shift and when I woke up, I noticed that I had a call from Betfred verifying that I had indeed won."

Lucky Jason plans on spending his winnings on a new house, a fancy holiday, a new car and an unforgettable Christmas for his family. I'll bet.

Jason said that when he went into work to tell his boss he would be leaving his manager initially didn't believe him, but that didn't stop him from handing in his notice.

He told the news outlet he now plans to set up his own roofing business with the cash he's won and that he might also invest in property.

"It's amazing that all that money is now in my account... and from just a £6 bet! I've not had a chance to properly celebrate yet because it's only just happened and so many things are changing for the better."

Betfred boss Fred Done said: "To paraphrase Tesco's slogan - Jason has obviously found that his little £6 bet has helped him rather a lot!"
