UK's Newest Roller Coaster Opened This Week Has World Record-Equalling 10 Inversions

People have been left itching to try out the UK's newest rollercoaster - which boasts a breath-taking 10 inversions - after it was unveiled last week. Catch a clip of the ride here:

You may only know Yorkshire for its rolling dales and its epic and nationwide favourite tea, but the historic county in northern England has a whole lot more up its sleeve.

Flamingo Land Resort offers a lot more than just a tranquil day getting some one-on-one time with wild animals as the park has just unveiled its latest rollercoaster, named Sik, and thrill-seekers already can't get enough.

The UK's newest ride launched on Saturday, 2 July and it joins the 'Big Six' at the theme park resort, alongside the rides Velocity, Hero, Cliff Hanger, Mumbo Jumbo and Kumali.

According to a social media post by the resort, the ride is a collaboration with local fashion brand 'SIKSILK'.

In a post from 2019, Flamingo Land unveiled its plans for the ride as '840 metres of pure adrenaline'.

The resort describes the ride as 'an adrenaline-fuelled, white-knuckle roller coaster with a stomach-churning, head-spinning 10 inversions'.

According to Coasterpedia, the ride is '875 metres long, reach[es] a height of 33 metres' and has 'two trains with six cars per train'.

It was originally meant to be finished for 2020, however, it predictably experienced delays because of the coronavirus pandemic.

The ride has been compared to Colossus at Thorpe Park, as it also boasts 10 inversions. However, as per Theme Park Insanity, Sik doesn't have 'over the shoulder restraints' like rollercoasters of its nature usually feature.

Instead, it is noted as having 'lap bars' which 'offer a much freer, less restrictive experience overall'.

"Lap Bars will mean your upper body is less restricted which in turn will offer you greater hangtime throughout the ride’s ten incredible inversions," the website explains.

While the ride doesn't top Alton Towers' The Smiler's world record holding 14 inversions, videos of Sik have been widespread across social media as riders have jumped at the opportunity to try the UK's latest ride.

One TikToker's video of their experience of the ride has amassed over half-a-million views, over 10 thousand likes and hundreds of comments from eager Brits, desperate to try out the new attraction.

One user said: "That looks awesome."

"I can't believe it only has a lap bar," another said as a third commented: "Dam yes."

However, one user questioned whether or not the ride was simply the 'exact layout' of Colossus, to which the TikToker replied: "Nope different first drop and has lap bars instead of over the shoulder restraints. It's 10 times better than Colossus."

"No uncomfortable head bashing just pure enjoyment," they added.

The TikToker even claimed the ride is 'better than The Smiler' too.
