Chad Lowe said he was 'blessed' to be a girl dad before tragic death of 13-year-old daughter
Chad Lowe had said that he was 'blessed' to be a girl dad weeks before his daughter Fiona's tragic death at the age of 13.
Lowe and his wife Kim Painter have shared the awful news that Fiona has died, describing her as a 'loving young girl who was smart, creative, and loved to dance'.
In the statement, the 58-year-old actor and director paid tribute to his daughter alongside wife, with the statement saying: "We are deeply heartbroken by the loss of our beloved Fiona."
The statement added: "She was adored by her sisters and she was deeply loved by her parents.

"In fact, she was the light of our lives. Her passing is devastating for our entire family and we ask for prayers and privacy at this time."
In the statement, the family went on to urge people to speak about their mental health, and to ask for help if they are struggling, People reports.

A cause of death not been released, though law enforcement have confirmed that Fiona passed on 29 September at home. Law enforcement sources told TMZ that authorities were called to the address at 12.10am.
Lowe, who is the younger brother of Rob Lowe and also father to Mabel, 17, and Nixie, 10, had previously taken to social media earlier this year, sharing a post about how he felt 'blessed' to be a girl dad.
He included a video of Nixie on his shoulders, with the caption: "This is what it's all about."
Another post on Instagram marked Fiona turning 13, with Lowe writing: "Celebrating Fiona officially becoming a teen today!! Keep dancing through life FiBear! Love you soooo much!!"
The loss of their daughter has come only a year after the family lost their home in the Pacific Palisades fire which ripped through 1,200 acres of land, prompting an evacuation order from the Los Angeles Fire Department as winds reached 55mph and spread the fire.
A statement released by the fire department at the time said: "The Palisades Fire is burning near Palisades Drive. Those nearby should get set for a potential wildfire evacuation by gathering supplies and loved ones."
Lowe has also taken to Instagram a year after the fire, reflecting on what has happened since then and how their lives were 'turned upside down by a completely preventable catastrophe'.
"It’s hard not to let the anger, despair, and frustration overwhelm. Losing everything I ever owned and the home we raised our family in is still deeply painful to this day," he added.
"However, this terrible experience has been a powerful reminder of this simple truth - we can’t always control what happens to us in this life but we can control how we respond.
"And I have been so incredibly proud of how my wife Kim and our daughters have strived to make the absolute best of this extraordinarily difficult circumstance.
"I am in awe of their resilience."
Lowe also went on to say that his daughters, including Fiona, had gone back to where the house had been to see what was left.
