Secret files Donald Trump promised he would release if he became president again

Trump sat down with Joe Rogan where he spoke candidly about two major files that are currently kept 'under wraps' by the US government

President-elect Donald Trump promised to release classified US government files just days before he was re-elected back in to the White House.

Trump, 78, will head back to Washington DC after storming to victory in the 2024 US presidential election, beating Vice President Kamala Harris comfortably in a race that had been billed as too close to call.

Within hours of polls closing, it became apparent that Harris had failed to mobilise the voters she needed in order to move from the vice presidency to the Oval Office.

Trump, on the other hand, is set to win the popular vote - the first Republican candidate to do so since George W. Bush in 2004.

Ahead of the election, Trump, like Harris, sat down with a number of traditional and new format news outlets as they looked to convince swing voters who were still undecided.

Among them was America's number one podcaster and MMA legend, Joe Rogan, who Trump sat down with for a three-hour, unscripted chat on The Joe Rogan Experience.

And it was during this chat that the politician said he would finally reveal 'secret' government files about two topics the public is incredibly interested in.

Speaking to Rogan, Trump claimed he would unbox classified government papers on the assassination of John F. Kennedy back in 1963.

It is one of the biggest events in modern history, with the killing of JFK in broad daylight as he rode through Dallas, Texas, becoming the subject of numerous conspiracy theories over the years. We've all heard of the grassy knoll.

Trump told Rogan: "I did partially open. I think I've opened 50 percent but I was asked not to do it, and I thought that was a reasonable ask.

"But now I'm going to do it I'm going to do it very soon there's a lot of interest in it."

Trump said that due to the case documents involving people who are still alive, 'you tend not to do it' when it comes to releasing classified documents.

It follows up on a promise he made to presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr, known as RFK Jr - who is the nephew of JFK. RFK Jr's father was Senator Bobby Kennedy, who himself was also assassinated in 1968 while running for the presidency - earlier in the election campaign.

With RFK Jr suspending his campaign and supporting Trump - an endorsement that saw the Kennedy family issue a statement against the move - Trump publicly promised to release thousands of documents linked to his uncle's murder.

On top of this, Trump also brought up the subject of extraterrestrial life and unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and releasing more government information on that.

The president-elect said: "There's a lot of interest in the people coming from space. And I know you're interested in that.

"It's never been my thing. I have to be honest. I never have been a believer."

But he confirmed he had spoken to many pilots that have made him question things, saying: "I interviewed jet pilots that were solid people, perfect - great pilots, great everything. And they said, 'We saw things, sir, that were very strange. Like, a round ball but it wasn't a comet or a meteor'.

"'It was something and it was going four times faster than an F222', which is a very fast plane, you know. And it was round, which isn't, in theory, a great shape."

Now that Trump has won power once again, all we can do is sit and wait to see if he will come through on his promises across both fronts.
