Footage captured the moment a frenzy erupted at Fourth of July celebrations in California as a skydiver crashed in front of the horrified crowd watching below.
While trailing an American flag, the bloke was seen swooping in the skies above the Folsom Pro Rodeo on Thursday (2 July) before his stunt went horribly wrong.
It appears as though his patriotic accessory might have been his downfall, as video shows the skydiver smashing into a tent after the flag he was carrying appeared to snag on the treetops.
Those attending the festivities earlier this week were left stunned as the spectacle in the sky took a terrifying turn.

As the massive American flag attached to the skydiver seemingly got caught on the nearby trees, he nosedived towards the revellers looking up at him.

Thankfully, he managed to avoid hitting the swarms of people milling around and instead tumbled on top of a small tent which was erected at the event at the Dan Russell Arena outside of Sacramento.
The footage comes to an abrupt end after the moment of impact, leaving a lot of people wondering what state the skydiver - named Ross - was left in after the crash.
Organisers of the festivities then issued an update on how he is doing after the footage went viral.
Incredibly, the rodeo bigwigs announced that Ross was 'safe' and would be heading back in the air just 24 hours after the incident.
"On behalf of the Folsom Pro Rodeo and Choose Folsom, our skydiver Ross is safe and walked into our arena, post jump to a standing ovation," organisers said. "He will be skydiving into our arena again tonight, July 3rd!"

Choose Folsom spokesperson Jennifer Cliff also said; "[The] landing was certainly not the landing he intended, but thankfully the skydiver is doing well."
She told local news outlet The Sacramento Bee that Ross suffered a cut on his lip, but apart from that, he walked away largely unscathed.
According to the publication, the 'iconic high-flying American flag carried in by a skydiver' is a stunt regularly performed at the Folsom Pro Rodeo.
Ross is said to be part of a professional team of 'experienced, highly trained' skydivers who have been putting on a show for punters at the rodeo for the last five years, according to Cliff.
He made it back up in the skies on Friday as promised, as footage was shared showing him successfully complete the stunt - and he completed a 'perfect landing' the second time around.
The Folsom Pro Rodeo shared video of this in a social media post, which was captioned: "We shared that Ross was safe and would be back in the air tonight.
"He kept that promise and delivered a perfect landing to kick off another incredible night at the Folsom Pro Rodeo."
The comment section was brimming with praise for Ross, as people virtually patted him on the back for dusting himself off and giving the skydive another go so soon.
One said: "Love this. We were there the first night. Glad he came back out and nailed that landing."
Another wrote: "Much smoother landing!"
A third added: "This is awesome to see!!! Guy is a legend for coming back out the next night like this!!"
And a fourth chimed in saying: "Ross is the man, and an absolute tank."
