Missing woman who vanished after unsettling final message found alive in Mexico one year later
A missing Ukrainian woman who abandoned her car during a road trip from Florida to California has been found alive in Mexico.
Officials said in an update that they had established contact with Ganna Kovrizhynkh, 39, on 7 August.
“In July 2025, Ganna Kovrizhnykh, a Ukrainian citizen, was reported missing by family members after her car and trailer were found abandoned on private property in Potrero, California” Sgt. Jacob Klepach of the SDSO’s missing persons and cold case team said on Friday.
“The San Diego County Sheriff’s Office conducted an extensive investigation, exhausting all leads.

“Sheriff’s investigators believed Kovrizhnykh likely had voluntarily crossed into Mexico.
“The Sheriff's Office has notified the Ukrainian Embassy of Kovrizhnykh's whereabouts.”
Kovrizhynkh had been using the alias ‘Angel Volnaya’
From a missing persons report from last year, officials said Kovrizhynkh may have been wearing a wig and was using the alias ‘Angel Volnaya’.
Kovrizhynkh, standing at 5'5" tall, weighing 100 pounds with blond hair and blue eyes, left behind a clear message at the time, asking for her mother to take her possessions.
“The letter essentially provided instructions to give her personal assets to her mother. On July 12, Kovrizhynkh's Jeep Grand Cherokee and camper trailer were found apparently abandoned near the 25000 block of Potrero Park Drive," The National Missing and Unidentified Persons System (NamUs) stated.
Sergeant Klepach told KNSD: “We believe she was just kind of touring the country and she left her vehicle in Potrero and never came back to her vehicle.
“We don’t really have any belief one way or another at this point if there is foul play involved or if she just strictly voluntarily left.”
Kovrizhynkh said ‘the punishment is coming’
In a video posted on her ‘Angel Volnaya’ Facebook account, she is seen reading from the Bible with the caption: “There is no way to escape. The punishment is coming.
“The rapture is coming. It is already on the earth. There is only a few years left… I’m a prophet. I just left everything that I have,” she said in the clip shared on 4 July 2025.
“Time is very close. Prepare all the churches, they should be ready. We are already at the last moment.
“This is only like three years and the anti-Christ will sit on his throne.”
