'Most dangerous sex position' is responsible for huge amount of injuries

In today's edition of news you never wanted to hear, there is a single sex position which is responsible for nearly half of all penile fractures.

According to Superdrug, 62 percent of people surveyed by pharmacutical company have reported a sex-related injury at least once in their lives, which puts a whole new dimension into the concept of safe sex.

Injuries can range from leg cramps, to back pain and, of course, discomfort in the genital area.

While unpleasant, most of these injuries will heal, however there is one intercourse related ailment which stands head and shoulders above the rest.

Enter the broken penis.

Yes, that's something that can actually happen, and, according to one doctor, there's one specific position which puts you more at risk of sustaining this injury.

Taking to TikTok, NHS surgeon and content creator Dr Karan Rajan explained that the reverse cowgirl position puts men at the greatest risk of this injury.

Explaining how this happens, Rajan said: "If there is any erratic thrusting or if the movements of the two parties are not in sync, the male [penis] could slip out and be crushed by the female pubic bone."

How does a penis fracture happen?

Considering the fact that the penis doesn't contain a bone, you'd think it wouldn't be possible to fracture, which is both true and not true.

According to Cleveland Clinic, a penis 'fracture' occurs when the member is severely bent or hit during an erection.

The force causes damages a connective tissue, tunica albuginea, which covers the vascular structure responsible for causing an erection.

A tear to the tunica albuginea is considered a penile fracture.

Symptoms of a penile fracture include:

  • Hearing a popping or cracking noise
  • Immediate loss of erection
  • Blood in the urine and pain while painful peeing
  • Bruising and swelling in the penis

How serious is a penis fracture?

Now I can understand that rocking up to A&E and telling the nurse on duty that you've suffered a penis fracture may be rather embarrassing, but it's important that you do, as Cleveland Clinic notes that it is considered a medical emergency.

Most penile fractures will require surgery, but this is better than the alternative, as failure to seek treatment can lead to a curved penis or the inability to get and/or maintain an erection, per Mayo Clinic.

"You have been warned over active sex can lead to your penis looking like an enlarged aubergine," Dr Rajan added.

Perhaps one not to recreate at home...
