New footage of the Delta Air Lines plane which crash landed at Toronto's Pearson Airport shows the aircraft coming down to the ground before flipping over and exploding into a fireball.

Delta Flight 4819 appeared to crash land on a snowy runway and flip over, though incredibly it seems as though everyone on board the plane survived.

The crash occurred at around 2:15pm local time yesterday (17 February) and of the 80 people on board the plane it seems the damage count is 18 injured and zero fatalities.

Survivors from the plane crash have posted footage of what it was like inside the plane itself, while the view from outside the plane was utterly terrifying for onlookers.

People saw Delta Flight 4819 come down on the runway and appear to feel the impact of the landing hard, with flames bursting from the aircraft as it flipped over.

An air ambulance service took three people to hospital for their injuries after the crash, but it is quite incredible that of the 76 passengers and four crew members there have been no fatalities.

Peter Carlson, a passenger on board the plane, said the plane's landing was 'very forceful'.

"All of a sudden everything just kind of went sideways and then next thing I know it’s kind of a blink and I’m upside down still strapped in," he said of the experience of being in the crash.

A number of aviation experts have given their verdict on the incident, with many saying that the weather was the most likely cause of the plane flipping over on the runway.

CNN aviation analyst Peter Goelz suggested that a 'strong gust of wind' affecting the plane when it touched down had caused it to flip over.

Aviation expert Scott Hamilton told Newsweek that the wind and snow around the Toronto airport are likely to be major factors in the plane flipping over.

While aviation safety expert John Cox said it was 'very rare to see something like this'.

He said: "We’ve seen a couple of cases of take-offs where airplanes have ended up inverted, but it’s pretty rare.

"The weather conditions were windy. The wind was out of the west at 27 to 35 knots, which is about 38 miles an hour (61kph). So it was windy.

"But the airplanes are designed and certified to handle that. The pilots are trained and experienced to handle that."

An investigation into the crash has been launched with the goal of recovering the plane's flight recorder and cockpit audio recorder to gain a clearer picture of what happened.
