Basketball player Sophie Cunningham divides opinion after pulling trousers down on court

Basketball player Sophie Cunningham has gone viral on social media after pulling her trousers down to a fan who was filming the match.

In the clip, which was shared online, the basketball player in the WNBA had approached the side of the court wearing tracksuit bottoms, with people shooting in the background in what appeared to be a practice session before a match.

As she got to the side of the court she noticed that someone was filming her from the stands.

The video, which is only a few seconds long, then shows her turning around and briefly pulling down the tracksuit bottoms, exposing the shorts that she was wearing underneath.

She then smiles and points at the camera after pulling the tracksuit bottoms back up again.

The clip of Cunningham, 30, was shared to a social media account impersonating the player, which posted it on X, and was captioned: "I still play around lol".

While the post did not appear to be acknowledged by Cunningham's official account on social media, it has still drawn a lot of attention online.

People had a mixed reaction to the clip, with some feeling that it was not an appropriate way for her to behave, while others didn't seem to understand what all the fuss was about.

One wrote: “This not funny got little girls watching Sophie."

Meanwhile, another replied: “Yo nobody trynna see that".

Others were more positive however, with one replying: “Never stop, it’s why I love who you are and your style!”

"Why can’t anybody be mad?" wrote another. "She’s got short on. It’s in the name compression shorts."

Someone else echoed this sentiment, replying: "Why is everyone tripping she showed much less than she would have in a bathing suit".

"So, she showed her volleyball uniform she wears under her basketball uniform?" another person replied.

The clip does not appear to have been acknowledged on any of Cunningham's official social media accounts.

It was originally shared by the account for Brick Center, which describes itself as 'The Worldwide Leader in Sports Fails' in its bio on X, where the video was captioned: "Sophie Cunningham before the game."

The clip was taken before a match at the Indiana Fever's home court.

It comes as her team is making a case for her to be named Sixth Player of the Year, with the official account for the Indiana Fever team sharing a post which read: "She gives us the juice when she comes in off the bench."

She had previously missed a large portion of her first season due to sustaining an injury.

However, since then she has returned for this season, where she has averaged 8.4 points over the course of 38 games.

Her stats have also included 2.3 rebounds, as well as 1.3 assists when shooting 47.6 percent from the field, as well as having 44.1 percent shooting from the three-point range.
