US Representative Nancy Mace has said Lindsay Clancy should be ‘publicly executed’ after her trial ended in a hung jury.
Clancy was recently on trial over the deaths of her three children - Cora, five, Dawson, three, and eight-month-old Callan - in January 2023.
During her trial, which ran for almost six weeks, Clancy’s legal team did not dispute that she killed her children but argued that she wasn’t criminally responsible at the time as she was suffering from postpartum psychosis and hearing voices.
The prosecution argued that Clancy planned the killings and was in her right mind.

After hearing from 80 witnesses and shifting through hundreds of pieces of evidence, the jury told Judge William Sullivan that they could not reach a unanimous decision and he declared a mistrial.
It’s since been revealed that 11 out of the 12 jurors were set to find Clancy not guilty due to reason of insanity but one holdout juror refused to agree, despite allegedly admitting that he had ‘reasonable doubt’ about the case.
The Clancy case has been hugely polarising across the US and further afield, with even the likes of President Donald Trump sharing his thoughts.
Meanwhile, South Carolina representative Mace, 43, has also spoken out about the case and didn’t shy away from her opinions.
In a new interview with TMZ, Mace said: “Her children are dead. She should be dead too.
“She should get the death penalty.”
Before adding that it should be a ‘public execution’ saying she deserved ‘nothing less’.
“It could be by firearm, it could be electric chair. I don’t really care. Not an injection,” she continued.
Mace said a ‘public execution’ would serve as ‘a warning to women everywhere’
“Be a warning to women everywhere, you don’t kill your kids,” she said.
“Look at the crime we have in this country. If people can get away with murdering children, what else can they do?”
“There are no rules, there are no laws.”
She also hit out at Clancy’s defence lawyer Kevin Reddington who has previously called on President Trump to pardon his client.
“He knows as an attorney in the state of Massachusetts, you can’t ask for a federal pardon for a state case,” she said.
“It doesn’t take a lawyer to figure that out.”
Reddington acknowledged that Trump would not be able to pardon Clancy as she isn’t facing federal charges, but said previously: "The goal is pretty simple. It's to seek help from Trump," Reddington told WBZ shortly after his GMA appearance.
"I mean, if President Trump feels that this is a case that warrants that type of intervention from, you know, the executive branch, even though legally it's not a federal case, he certainly has an awful lot of clout."
"I'm sure that, were he hypothetically reach out to [District Attorney] Tim Cruz, you know, they're both Republicans, and I don't know, maybe that will be something that Tim would listen to and consider.
"I think any type of help that we can get is helpful."
