A bodybuilder has called out a woman on TikTok who criticised a man's supposedly poor gym etiquette. Take a look below:

Going to the gym is already a stressful experience at the best of times, particularly when it's chock-a-block and there's just one machine you're interested in.

Inevitably, if someone has been on one machine or rack for a while, you're either going to sack it off and go home or ask politely how long they plan to use it for, just so you know whether to stick around. Well, not according to this TikToker.

In a video that has since been deleted, gym-goer @xandrafittt can be seen preparing to squat when a man off-camera is heard politely asking her how many sets she has left, while also apologising for bothering her.

She doesn't have an answer for him, so he walks away and she continues with her workout. The TikToker posted this with the caption: "Just don't do it #gymetiquette"

Well, the video caught the eye of bodybuilder Joey Swoll (@thejoeyswoll), who recently criticised a woman for trying to shame an 'ego lifter' at the gym.

In his latest video, he addresses the gym etiquette complaint by saying: "This man did nothing wrong.

"There is absolutely nothing wrong with somebody asking you - politely - how many sets you have left.

"This man was trying to get your attention, you were setting up your camera, you hadn't started your set yet, and he even went as far as to say, 'I'm sorry for bothering you.'

"He didn't deserve your smirk, he didn't deserve your attitude, and he definitely didn't deserve to be posted on your social media as an example of what bad gym etiquette is.

"The only bad gym etiquette here is you. People ask me all the time how many sets I have left. I go as far as saying, 'Would you like to work in with me?'

"You don't have to do that but you need to respect people. It's a shared space. You don't own the gym. Your name is not on it. Until it is, I'd suggest you mind your own business, [and] be better than that."

Swoll's video has been viewed more than 23 million times, and he's received thousands of comments praising him.

In a reply to a comment, he wrote: "It's very simple, treat others the way you wanna be treated. Be kind. Train hard. And support each other!"
