Dentist Warns Teeth-Shaving TikTokers They'll Need Dentures By Their 40s

Dentist Warns Teeth-Shaving TikTokers They'll Need Dentures By Their 40s

A dentist has warned teeth-shaving TikTokers that they could need dentures by their 40s. Watch her discussing one example here:

A growing number of young people are travelling abroad for cheap cosmetic procedures - with social media influencers often receiving the treatment for free in return for the promotion.

One alarming trend is the rise in people having their teeth shaved down, so that they resemble shark teeth, in order to have 'veneers' fitted.

However, Dr Shaadi Manouchehri, a London-based dentist with almost 100,000 TikTok followers, has warned that such procedures could leave people with anything but the so-called 'perfect smile'.

In a video shared on the platform, in which she discussed a specific example, she said: "Shaving teeth down to pegs like that is going to damage the nerve and you're going to need a root canal treatment and an extraction at some point in your life.

"Second point, veneers or crowns will need to be replaced every 10 to 15 years typically."

She continued: "She is going to need to replace them probably four or five times throughout her lifetime if not more.

"Not only the financial burden is gonna be an issue, secondly it's gonna be a biological burden because the tooth physically can't be prepared and re-prepared every single time.

Doctor Explains Why You Should Brush Your Teeth Before Breakfast

"So, she's a gorgeous young lady and she's ruined her teeth, possibly for the rest of her life, and she's gonna have dentures by the age of 40. I personally wouldn't choose that, would you?"

Dr Emi Mawson, a Cornwall-based dentist, seconded this view, explaining that veneers and crowns are two very different things.

In her own TikTok video about Katie Price's teeth, she said: "These are not veneers. These are crown preparations and there's a big difference.

"As long as your teeth are aligned, veneers require minimal to no preparation whatsoever. Veneers are much less destructive to the teeth.

"Once your teeth are down to stumps there is no going back. I beg you, if you're looking to get cosmetic dental treatment, find a reputable minimally invasive dentist.

"And remember, price usually reflects the skill of the dentist and the quality of the work."

People were shocked by the condition of Price's natural teeth, which she revealed prior to getting her teeth redone in Turkey.

Before the treatment, the 42-year-old said: "No pain, no gain, if you wanna get your teeth done, you have to look like that."
