A janitor has caught the attention of local residents after he was spotted cruising down the street in a mop bucket, propelled a leaf blower and an umbrella.

Brian Edward Kahrs, 57, joked that his invention was a 'blue-collar limousine' after sharing footage of himself making his way down a street in Clearwater, Florida.

Posting the clip on social media, Kahrs wrote: "Nothing like taking a cruise along Clearwater Beach after a long night of mopping floors and scrubbing toilets."

And his post has proved to be a big hit, racking up thousands of views and more than 8,000 shares.

Responding to the funny clip, one social media user wrote: "That is very cool, awesome, and ridiculous... love it!"

Another posted: "Oh my hell this is flipping brilliant.

"If I ever see you doing something when I am in the area, I might just wreck my car from laughing."

While a third wrote: "Never gets old... Never loses his sense of humor brilliant."

Kahrs, from Brooklyn, said his 'offbeat subcompact is a fuel-efficient, economical and fun way to travel'. Well, it certainly looks that way.

Kahrs' is not the only brilliant, albeit slightly unnecessary, invention we've seen in recent months.

Back in July, Dr Phil Green, 54, created a bizarre at-home hair trimmer, by gluing clippers onto a vacuum cleaner.

He explained: "It's been a common thing during lockdown - everybody needs to cut their hair. I started off trying to do what other people were doing and emulate a hairdresser by using two hands.

"Then I thought, 'Well, I've got clippers - maybe they will be easier?' But I had to work out how I could efficiently get my hair away from my head. It was difficult to coordinate.

"So I then thought, 'If I can attach the clippers to the vacuum cleaner...' - and that's what I did! Anyone can do it.

"I did it by chopping down one of those attachments on a vacuum cleaner - for tight spaces - and hot gluing clippers to the side. I then added a tie wrap to it, and that was it.

"You don't need anyone else. You can just use one hand."
