It's a frankly ridiculous amount of music

It's that time of year again! In what's fast becoming an annual tradition, Spotify dropped its annual Wrapped roundup of all the music we've been listening to over the year earlier this week and our timelines are still recovering.

I'm the kind of person who likes to pat themselves on the back over how great their taste in music is, so when I found out I'd listened to 48,623 minutes of music (over 800 hours) throughout the year- more than 93% of the UK - I thought I'd generally done pretty well for myself.

But what I soon learned after venturing online to compare results with others is that there's a level of Spotify addiction far beyond what even music fanatics like myself can muster.

Case in point - head on over to TikTok and you'll find a viral post from user @indrahartmann, who at time of writing appears to take the crown for being the No.1 Spotify user in the world with a staggering 403,000 minutes of music under his belt.

The post, which has already racked up over 4M views, shows Indra competing with another user who claims to have the top spot. In a simple captioned clip, the masked pretender to the throne reveals that he has listened to 367,853 minutes of music and posted proof of it along with the caption: "That moment when you are the number 1 spotify user in the world", referring to the Wrapped subtitle which claims that he has listened to more music than 100% of the streaming giants users.

But one smash cut later and the jig is up, as Indra swoops in to reveal his even larger streaming numbers, cheekily subtitling his response "No I am" as he reveals that he has streamed over 403,418 minutes- which translates to 6723 hours or 280 days of continuous music- in 2021 alone.

This person mistakenly thought they had taken the No.1 spot.

One user happily chimed in that "for listening to that much daniel cesar you deserve the #1 spot!" whilst another person vowed to "play my spotify 24/7 so that I can get the top spot next year"

Mostly though, people were just annoyed that both of them had conflated the USA with being 'the world' which is a pretty reasonable criticism.

Back in the UK, it was recently revealed that Britain's #1 Spotify user was a 20-year-old woman from Cambridgeshire named Regan, who had managed to clock up an incredible 230,664 minutes of music in the last 12 months.

Speaking to LADbible about her feat, the 20-year-old night porter says: "I was pretty shocked when it said I had beaten 100 percent of the UK; I knew I listened to a lot of music but that was just insane.
