Police in Toronto are on the hunt for a woman who is suspected of stealing a rock that's worth an eye-watering CAD $17,500 (£9,400 / USD £13,200).

Yup, you read that correctly, a ROCK worth over $17k. Here it is:

The rock wasn't your average garden one, though, this one was a piece of art - carrying a Sharpie inscription from Japanese artist Yoko Ono, which reads 'love yourself'. Fair enough.

According to police, the woman entered the Gardiner Museum in Toronto and stole the rock. Gary Long, a spokesperson for the police, has said the crime was possible as it was part of an 'interactive exhibit'.

"People can actually go up and interact with it, pick up the rock, say a prayer, meditate, that sort of thing, and then put the rock back.

"I guess this is something that Yoko Ono believes in, the interactive part of it. So, it's an unusual circumstance." Almost as unusual as a fucking rock being worth $17,500, eh, mate?

The suspect is described as being between 55 and 60 years of age, 5ft 4in, and was wearing a black coat, a red and black striped scarf, black trousers, a black hat and black shoes.

Toronto Police initially estimated the rock's value at $5,000 (£2,800 / USD $3,900) but that appears to have sky-rocketed in the hours following the crime.

When the news broke of the art heist, social media users loved it:

According to the exhibitions page: "Yoko Ono: The Riverbed invites visitors to collaborate with the artist, the museum, and each other, participating in the artwork through everyday action and contemplation."
