Daughter Shares Mum's Text About Hotel Room With Just One Bed

Daughter Shares Mum's Text About Hotel Room With Just One Bed

Parents, eh?

An 18-year-old who was enjoying a night's stay in a hotel with her boyfriend has shared a text message from her mother showing her confusion at the fact there was only one bed - a double bed - in their hotel room.

It's funny, but every parent of a teenager probably knows exactly how she feels.

Upon arriving at the Premier Inn in Edinburgh with her boyfriend Dean, 18-year-old Caitlin sent a photo of her room for the night to her mum, Jeanette.

The pair had travelled to the Scottish capital to see a performance by Frankie Boyle.

So far, so innocent. However, Jeanette obviously misread the situation and sent back a text expressing her confusion.

She wrote: "Shame Dean has to sleep on the couch. At least it's not the floor. Told you to make sure it was a twin x,"

Oh well, never mind.

Sharing a screen capture of the text message, Caitlin then made her mum briefly famous on Twitter by sharing her slightly naïve - if a little bit tongue in cheek - comments online.

Caitlin said: "Night in Edinburgh with my boyfriend and my mum thinks I'm still 12."

Well, if staying in hotels with their boyfriend isn't for 12-year-olds, then going to Frankie Boyle gigs definitely isn't.

Anyway, everyone on Twitter seemed to find the whole thing hilarious.

In fact, the tweet went viral and was retweeted more than 1,500 times and liked more than 40,000 times.

Big numbers.

It turned out that Caitlin wasn't alone in her predicament. One Twitter user wrote back: "When I went on holiday with my boyfriend my mum wanted pics of the room being two single beds (it was a double).

"I ignored her. If you're an adult your mum can't tell you what to do with stuff like that."

Another added: "That's why you don't send photos."

Yep, what they don't know won't hurt 'em.

The viral success of the tweet came as something of a shock to Caitlin's mam, as well.

Caitlin explained: "I sent it to a few of my friends and they found it hilarious so I decided to post it on Twitter thinking I'd get maybe 50 likes from friends."

However, the young woman went on to confirm that her mum was just kidding with her messages.

She added: "Basically my mum was having a laugh before we went, about making sure it was two beds and after sending her a picture of the room she continued to make a joke about how there was only one.

"She never thought it would be as funny as it's turned out to be.

"She's very modest but I think secretly she's loving the attention it's getting!"

All's well that ends well, then.
