Lawmaker Steps Down After Urinating Naked Into A Coffee Cup

A Canadian lawmaker has stepped down to 'seek assistance' after he was caught urinating into a coffee cup on a video call during government proceedings.

William Amos announced he would be taking a break just a month after he stripped naked on a different call on 14 April, after he'd returned home from a run.

He insists that both the incidents were accidental, but says he is deeply embarrassed.

In a statement, he explained that he didn't realise he was on camera.

It read: "Last night, while attending House of Commons proceedings virtually, in a non-public setting, I urinated without realising I was on camera.

"I am deeply embarrassed by my actions and the distress they may have caused anybody who witnessed them.

"While accidental and not visible to the public, this was completely unacceptable and I apologise unreservedly. I will be stepping aside temporally from my role as Parliamentary Secretary and from my committee duties so that i can seek assistance.

"I will continue to represent mu constituents and I'm grateful to be their voice in parliament. I am deeply appreciative for the support of my staff and the love of my family."

After the incident back in April, Amos tweeted an apology to his followers from his official account.

It read: "I made a really unfortunate mistake today & obviously I'm embarrassed by it. My camera was accidentally left on as I changed into work clothes after going for a jog. I sincerely apologize to all my colleagues in the House. It was an honest mistake + it won't happen again."

Amos has represented the Quebec district of Pontiac since 2015 and is part of the Liberal Party.

In the incident in April, he could be seen behind a desk, with the regional and national flags behind him. He had a mobile phone appearing to cover his crotch.

The screen was only visible to staff on the internal video call, but a screenshot was leaked. In an email apologising, Mr Amos called his accident an 'unfortunate error'.

He explained: "My video was accidentally turned on as I was changing into my work clothes after going for a jog.

"I sincerely apologise to my colleagues in the House of Commons for this unintentional distraction. Obviously, it was an honest mistake and it won't happen again."
