Shocking footage shows the moment two men jumped from a rooftop bar, causing panic among customers, according to police. Watch them here:

The video, which was posted on Twitter, was filmed at around 7pm on the 25th floor of the Grand Hyatt Hotel, in Nashville on New Year's Day.

It shows people sat in the bar drinking, with the skyline of the city in the background. But the mood soon changes when two men can be seen climbing over the railings, appearing to prepare themselves to jump over the edge.

A woman can be heard shouting, quickly becoming more and more alarmed: "Holy s***. Oh my god. Oh my god. Holy s***! Oh my god. Oh my god!"

People can be heard shouting at them not to do it, with one saying: "You can't do that."

The men go on to balance on the barrier, with the street below them.

One of the men has a red parachute and can be seen stumbling backwards, catching himself on a table in the bar.

The woman then sounds shocked, as the first jumper throws himself off the top of the building. Then the second man follows him, jumping towards the street.

As she sees them both seem to safely land, she says: "Yes, oh my gosh. They're gone, oh my god."

CNN reported that the hotel security told police that the men are believed to have been guests at the establishment. The video of the incident was given to police but the men's identities are still unknown.

Both guests of the hotel and visitors are able to use the rooftop bar, but the chain confirmed the men were in fact guests of the hotel

In a statement, the chain said: "The hotel immediately engaged local authorities, and the guests were subsequently evicted and banned from the hotel.

"We vehemently condemn this kind of reckless behaviour, and further questions regarding this situation may be directed to the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department."

BASE jumping is an extreme sport, which stands for building, antenna, span and earth.

The sport differs from skydiving, which sees people parachute out of planes, BASE jumpers leap off fixed points.

They jump from things like cliffs and man-made objects. While it may seem less daring than jumping from a plane, those who take part jump from lower altitudes, which means they only have a few seconds to deploy their parachutes.

This gives them pretty much no time to deal with any problems or malfunctions. Because it is so risky, it's illegal in many places.
