Teenager Rescued From Chimney After Trying To Sneak Back In Late

Her parents weren't best pleased

Everyone has stayed out later than they should and tried to trick their parents into believing they'd never been out.

This probably has varying degrees of success, depending on how your house was laid out/how drunk you were, but one girl decided that she decided to make like Santa and make her entrance through the chimney.

The teenager had stayed out late with a friend on the night before Thanksgiving, but she hadn't quite scoped out the logistics of the operation - firefighters found her stuck at the bottom of her sealed off chimney breast.

A huge fail by anyone's standards, the 17-year-old returned home with her friend Yasmeen to find her house fully locked up, so she took it up on herself to scale the roof and make her way down the chimney - as you do.

Yasmeen told Fox 10: "She thought about going down the chimney. I didn't know it was blocked in the bottom. I never thought it was blocked on the bottom, so she went down and she started freaking out."

When the fire crew got to the Phoenix home, they found the panicking teenager stuck in the chimney.

"'She was, like, 'call 911!' She couldn't breathe," Yasmeen added.

The girl's friend Yasmeen was with her.

The rescue crew were called out at about 5pm, with the girl trapped in the chimney for about an hour and a half.

They erected a huge tripod structure over the chimney and attached a hoist to the centre so that they could lift her up safely.

It took them 40 minutes to remove her from the structure.

She was eventually removed safely, with the crew sending her to hospital and checking her over for injuries. She was fine and was then released.

According to AZ Family, she was in constant communication with firefighters throughout the incident, and was even having a joke with them as they hoisted her up.

Apparently though, her parents didn't see the funny side to the situation.

Yasmeen told news outlets: "They were so mad. Really mad."

People on social media, have, of course had their say.

One person tweeted: "People still do these type of things??"

Another wrote: "Just watching the news and they were talking about this teen who got locked out of the house, so decided to get in through the chimney. I give up."

Someone else posted: "Good luck living that one down kid."

Thankfully, the girl was fine, but if you ever get locked out, always remember that it's usually much safer to face your parents than try the chimney flue.
