Man slammed for trying to sell neighbour’s delivery back to them after it was left at the wrong address

The man took to Reddit to explain how a neighbour tried to sell his own stuff back to him after stealing it

A man has shared his shock after his neighbour stole his delivery and then tried to sell it back to him after the fact.

It’s one thing to miss a delivery, it’s another altogether to have it stolen from you.

One of the little annoyances of the modern world is that we have to know where our various deliveries are up to at any given time.

Sometimes they’re left at the postal delivery office, sometimes they just stick it into your blue bin, and sometimes they leave it with a neighbour.

On this occasion, they seem to have left it with exactly the wrong person.

The man was shocked to receive the letter from his neighbour.
Reddit

The man who made the order just wanted to get hold of some landscaping fabric online, and just assumed that the delivery had gone missing somewhere along the line.

However, just a matter of days later a note was passed through his door asking if he wanted to buy it back.

The letter even included the brand name of the fabric, which all but confirmed that he’d nicked the delivery and was trying to turn a fast profit off it.

The note said that the fabric had been ‘delivered by accident’ and asked whether the owner wanted to buy it back or trade for it.

Over on Reddit, the original owner of the fabric posted a picture of the note he received.

It read: "Hi! I'm Sam, I live down the street.

“A few weeks ago, we got some landscaping fabric delivered to us by accident, we have one roll left if you are interested in buying it.

“We are selling it but if you wanted to trade something for it we could work something out.

“Text me if you're interested.”

Here's the note that they left for them.

Obviously, it’s cheeky as anything and loads of people have been offering their own advice on what to do about it.

"[It’s] illegal to tamper with someone's mail,” one person commented.

"I'd file a police report anyway. Don't threaten, just do it,” said another.

“Say here's the record number, you have three days to pay up or I will file in small claims court on this date.

“Have a good one smiley face.”

A third joked: "Rip it out of their yard, and then offer to sell it back to them."

Yeah, two wrongs don’t make a right, after all.

We’ll have to wait and see if they take any action – hopefully they’ll keep sharing updates on Reddit.
