Woman Calls Out Date For Requesting $4 To Cover Cost Of Coffee

Katlyn Phipps was very confused when she received the bizarre message

A woman has publicly called out her date for asking her to send him money for a coffee he bought her. Watch below:

Katlyn Phipps had recently met up with a guy she'd matched with on Hinge, and it seemed to go quite well, with both fairly keen to see each other again.

However, things took a bit of a turn when she woke up to a message from the guy, asking her to send him $4 (£2.97) for the coffee he had bought her during the date.

In a video shared on her TikTok account, Katlyn showed a screenshot of the message exchange she had with the man.

Replying to his message, she asked: "So I just woke up. Why did you request $4?"

He replied: "I assume the 2nd try for breakfast is canceled by now so that’s for the coffee last week since it seems we’re never gonna go out again. Really just don’t understand what games you are trying to play."

In a follow-up video, Katlyn said that he had actually offered to pay for her coffee and that things seemed to go well on the date itself.

She then shared another screenshot of a message she sent to him, in which she explained that she had wanted to see him again but hadn't been able to set a date because she was busy with work and studying.

It read: "I didn't know that I had to make a long term commitment after getting food with you once. I'm sorry that the lack of my presence has hurt your ego so bad that you felt the need to request $4 for a coffee.

"I will be more than happy to send you that since it must've broken the bank.

"Now that we've gotten that out of the way let me be crystal clear when I say this... no I will not be able to meet with you this weekend. How about instead of your petty comments you try and be understanding of someone with a busy schedule and work with that.

"Your lack of communication and understanding has clarified that this will not be progressing into anything more," she said, before adding: "Thank you and have a blessed weekend."

Katlyn then shared the man's final response, in which he said she had asked him multiple times to go on another date and that she shouldn't had 'led him on'.

The student said she did agree to meet him again but never asked him.

Since sharing her tale, her videos have been watched over 300,000 times, with people piling into the comments to back Katlyn's corner.

One user said: "What was the response."

While another added: "I would have sent him $8 and said, 'Use the extra to buy yourself some manners'."

But on the other hand, some users felt the scorned date kind of had a point.

"I mean?? if ur not feeling someone u should probs tell them?" one person pointed out, while another said: "Why not? You can't pay for your own coffee?"
