Woman gets brutally rejected from a date because she wasn’t into Marvel

Audiences were left stunned as she politely smiled through the colossal awkwardness of the whole ordeal.

An online speed dating show has gone wild after a Marvel superfan savagely dumped a woman because she didn't share his taste in comic books and films.

The first clip of 2023 of internet dating show The Button has captured the incredibly awkward - and very short - date between contestants Donny and Maria.

The idea behind the show is that two people are sitting in front of the same button and when it lights up red either contestant can press it and swap out their date for another person.

If they both last more than 10 minutes, they get an all-expenses paid second date.

But the date between Donny and Maria barely lasted a few seconds.

The computerised voice from the 'button' introduced Donny to the woman, kicking off the date with a question for Maria: "Are you into Marvel?"

Well, those four words were enough to trigger an awkward as hell exchange.

"You know what, no," she said. "My brother watches them but I just can’t get into anime."

Donny responded to Maria's answer with: "Like, you can’t not like Marvel. It’s amazing.

"There are so many different things and it’s not anime, it’s a bunch of superheroes who try to save everybody."

An incredibly awkward pause followed, with the exception of the silent scream that was clearly emitting from inside Maria's head.

She smiled politely and said: “Yeah, I’ll give it a chance... maybe.”

The middle button turned red, which allows either contestant the chance to end the date.

Maria went to press the button but Donny beat her to it, which meant he then had to explain why he was cutting off the date.

According to Donny, disliking the comic book and film franchise is just not allowed under any circumstances.

Donny added in one final justification as the clearly stunned woman walked away.

"I have a dog named Marvel, it’s a big deal to me," he said.

Social media has since erupted over the awkward exchange. with the short clip racking uo nearly five million views.

One user said: "The fact he rejected her because she doesn’t like Marvel made me cackle at how ridiculous that was."

A second added: "The very first date lmao. The girl was ok with him not being very attractive and overweight and being a nerd over something she isn't into. She was willing to at least have a convo and he pressed the button cause she doesn't like anime."

A third commented: "Gotta admire her listening to the rant without interrupting or insulting him after."

However, a still rather stunned Maria wasn't shy about telling the other contestants about Donny's reasoning.

She told them she was nixed because she didn’t like Marvel, which prompted a shrieks of laughter.
