Every pet owner's worst nightmare is something bad happening to their furry friend, and one woman's heart was left in her mouth after her dog jumped out of a window. But thankfully, she used some quick-thinking initiative in the shocking situation.

See her heroics for yourself:

Rachel Green, from Hawkinge, Kent, was receiving a parcel when she noticed an upstairs window opening.

In doorbell footage, the owner looks up and shouts up at the dog to get back, but by this time it's too late and she's already fallen out of the window.

Luckily, Rachel manages to make it over in time and catches the free falling pooch just before she hits the ground.

Speaking to LADbible about the heart-stopping moment, she said lockdown and working from home seems to have taken its toll on her dog, who she's noticed has become 'clingy'.

"She’s never done that before and she’s six, so it was a bit of a shock," Rachel told us.

"She’s always been an independent dog but I guess she’s become clingy since the pandemic/WFH and always wants to be by my side. I just didn’t realise how far she’d go to do that.

"The windows were shut but she managed to push one wide open, I only noticed she was there because the sun’s reflection on the window/wall moved and caught my eye when it opened."

Rachel said that her dog was 'lucky' not to have suffered any serious injuries.

"Main thing is, my dog is absolutely fine and suffered nothing more than a sore leg for a couple of hours. Lucky!" she added.
