President Donald Trump's ex-security adviser has claimed that Iran were days away from receiving nuclear weaponry.

The US and Israel began a war on the Middle Eastern nation after firing missiles at them on 28 February, leading to retaliatory attacks from Iran on nearby countries in the region, targeting US military bases in particular.

Trump has recently claimed that the conflict is 'very complete' claiming that Iran now has 'nothing left', while also being left with 'no navy, no communications', and 'no air force'.

"Their drones are being blown up all over the place, including their manufacturing of drones. If you look, they have nothing left. There's nothing left in a military sense," the US President added.

He has called for Iran to 'surrender or die', even claiming on social media that 'death, fire and fury' would be unleashed on the country if they weren't to cooperate.

But apparently, things could have been very different.

While bombings successfully killed the supreme leader of Iran, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, his son Mojtaba Khamenei has been elected as the next ruler.

He sent a message to the US and Israel about surrendering, as Iranian state TV revealed a missile which was inscribed with the words: “At your service, Sayyid Mojtaba,” reaffirming its allegiance to the new leader.

Now, American attorney and former Trump security adviser John Bolton has claimed that Iran were much closer to acquiring nuclear missiles than we thought.

Speaking to The Sun, he explained that 'Operation Epic Fury' has done great damage to the nation's nuclear programme, and that the nation was just three days away from getting their hands on a North Korean nuke.

Bolton said that a transfer of funds to the Central Bank of North Korea would secure the nuclear capabilities they desire, with the East Asian regime ready to 'put a nuclear device on an aeroplane, route it through Russia', before making its way to Iran for use within 72 hours.

He added that 'the ties between North Korea and Iran, both on ballistic missiles and the nuclear side, are quite real'.

“Let’s face it, in the China-Russia axis that’s forming right now, Iran and North Korea are two outriders, and so the cooperation between them is very threatening,” the former government adviser said.

He said that the prospect of Iran getting their hands on nukes is enough to force a regime overthrow, saying: “I just think it’s a convincing argument [for] why you need a normal regime in Iran. It could be a military government. It could be a democracy.”

Bolton pointed out: “At least it’s not run by a bunch of theocratic extremists and militarists that want nuclear weapons – that is the big change.”

While Iran warned Trump to 'be careful not to be eliminated', the Iranian President also apologised to certain countries for the attacks on surrounding nations, vowing to hold fire 'unless attacked first'.
