Donald Trump issues scathing attack on Europe as he states 'your countries are going to hell' in chaotic UN address

Trump broke a record with his chaotic speech today

Donald Trump has issued a scathing attack on Europe as he gave a chaotic United Nations address today (23 September).

The US President spoke to the UN General Assembly in New York as he gave an ominous threat to the teleprompter operator, slammed the mayor of London and criticised the organisation’s assistance for asylum seekers.

Trump’s whole thing just seemed pretty typical for him, really, as he complained about an escalator breaking down on his way in as he joked about how he’d bid on the contract to refurbish the HQ.

He used the blunders as a way of ranting about the UN in general, as he said all he got from it is a ‘bad escalator and a bad teleprompter’ before launching his verbal attacks.

“What is the purpose of the United Nations? The UN has such tremendous potential... but it's not even coming close to living up to that potential. For the most part all they do is write a strongly worded letter,” he added.

And he was sure to get in his takes on immigration here in Europe, as he slammed the warning: “Your countries are going to hell.”

Trump also claimed Europe is ‘in serious trouble’.

“They've been invaded by a force of illegal aliens like nobody's ever seen before and nobody's doing anything to get them out. It's not sustainable,” he said.

With them apparently ‘pouring in’, the President claimed nothing is being done about this supposed ‘trouble’ that Europe’s facing due to a need to be ‘politically correct’.

Trump told the members at the UN that it’s about time to call an end to the ‘failed experiment of open borders’, as well as saying ‘Europe has to step it up’ as he spoke about Nato countries.

Trump says some of the members have ‘not cut off’ Russian energy products and through doing this, are ‘funding the war against themselves’ which he reckons is ‘embarrassing’.

If Russia is not prepared to make a deal to end its war on Ukraine, the US President says his country is prepared to enforce ‘a very strong round of powerful tariffs’.

However, in order for that to be effective, nations in Europe must join in ‘adopting the exact same measures’.

With all the various (and slightly random) topics he covered, Trump broke a record with his speech.

While speakers are typically given 15 minutes to speak to the UN assembly, he took just over 56 minutes – longer than he or any other US President has ever taken.
