Worrying Russian 'doomsday radio station' shares mysterious message during Trump and Putin call

Russia's 'The Buzzer' came to life once again to broadcast a cryptic message amid speculation over its true purpose

Russia's eerie 'doomsday radio station' started to broadcast some odd messages for the second time this year amid Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump's 'excellent' phone call this week.

Known officially as the Soviet UVB-76 radio station as well as by the name 'The Buzzer', the ominous station spurted out some codes while Putin was on a phone call with US president Donald Trump yesterday (19 May).

The pair have been in contact several times despite Trump calling the Russian leader out at the end of April, warning he wouldn't tolerate him 'tapping me along' when it came to the nation's war with Ukraine and reaching a ceasefire deal.

But it looks like the leaders are still in contact, though the odd radio station, which has existed since the Cold War, has come back to life.

Known also as Dead Hand Radio or Judgement Day Radio, its true purpose remains under wraps.

It is the second time this year that the radio station has crackled into life during calls between the world leaders, reports Metro.

This time, it broadcast the ominous code 'NZhTI 89905 BLEFOPUF 4097 5573' prior to the White House call, and hours later, it followed up with 'NZhTI 01263 BOLTANKA 4430 9529'.

The meaning behind these codes currently remains unknown, but it's different to the constant buzzing sound that the station usually emits all year round.

Many assume that the station plays a role in the military, and could even have a link to the Kremlin's nuclear weaponry.

Following these talks, President Trump claimed that Russia and Ukraine would once again 'immediately start negotiations toward a ceasefire'.

Putin added that they would have to display a 'desire for peace' and 'find compromises' for both nations.

Putin made a statement via local media as well, thanking Trump for the US' support in talks between the nations.

Controversial footage of Russia appearing to use a North Korean gun in the war zone also made headlines following the call with Trump.

Meanwhile, Trump spoke to Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy prior to Pope Francis' funeral in the Vatican, with the pair looking to have made great progress since their public spat earlier this year.

The latter said following their meeting: "Protecting lives of our people. Full and unconditional ceasefire. Reliable and lasting peace that will prevent another war from breaking out.

"Very symbolic meeting that has potential to become historic, if we achieve joint results."

Trump spoke on Truth Social about the meeting, saying of the April attacks on Kyiv: "With all of that being said, there was no reason for Putin to be shooting missiles into civilian areas, cities and towns, over the last few days.

"It makes me think that maybe he doesn’t want to stop the war, he’s just tapping me along, and has to be dealt with differently, through 'Banking' or 'Secondary Sanctions?' Too many people are dying!!!"
