
At least four people have died after a cable car crashed into the ground near Naples, Italy today (17 April).
Officials say another person was 'extremely seriously injured' in the crash at Monte Faito and was being airlifted to hospital.
Local outlets have reported the crash occurred when one of the cables supporting the cabin had snapped while the cable car was traversing the valley.
Vincenzo De Luca, president of the region, said the victims were tourists. Their nationalities have not yet been confirmed.

Italy’s alpine rescue was responding to the accident at Monte Faito in the town of Castellammare di Stabia, south of Naples.
This accident comes just a week after the destination reopened for the season.
The cable car is particularly popular with tourists for its views of Mount Vesuvius and the Bay of Naples.
