The pair are survived by Cibele's father, who was Maria Elisabete's husband, and Maria Elisabete was was not made aware that her daughter had died.
Family of the two women have said that both of them had made specific requests not to be informed if the other died while they were still alive.
“Neither of them wanted to see the other die,” Cibele’s cousin Rowilson Leandro da Costa told G1. “They even talked about it, sometimes jokingly, sometimes seriously — and it happened. Neither of them knew about the other’s death. It’s truly astonishing.”

Speaking about their father and husband, Rowilson said: “He lost his family. To come home and find no one there anymore - it’s sad, difficult."
Cibele worked as a digital marketer and in 2024 she was diagnosed with a cancer that had originated in her adrenal gland, and would sometimes share updates about her health on her social media page.
In a post shared to her Instagram in October 2025, she wrote: “A year ago, I discovered that I had a rare adrenal cancer — a 10 cm tumor that had already taken over my kidney."
She added: “Getting to the diagnosis was a long road. I could feel that something was wrong, but none of the tests showed why. Even so, I never ignored what I was feeling … Not long afterward, kidney pain led me to get a CT scan, and there was the tumor."
In the post, which included a number of pictures from her trips to hospital, she added: “Today, I’m on my eighth cycle of chemotherapy."
Around a year after Cibele's diagnosis her mum Maria Elizabete would be diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, G1 reported.

Cibele had also shared a video to her social media which showed her receiving cancer treatment via an IV drip, which was accompanied by the caption: “As long as your only problem is money, be grateful. It’s worse to face something that not all the money in the world can solve."
Cibele had three different surgeries over the course of her illness, including one which meant that she would have to stay in hospital in the intensive care unit for 20 days after she contracted an infection.
It has been reported that Cibele and Maris Elisabete have been buried in a joint ceremony, with the pair also being buried together.
Paying tribute to Cibele, friend Bárbara Rodrigues dos Santos told G1: "She never stopped working. She never stopped living. She never stopped doing the things she had to do."
