Three Russian students ‘sent to gulag’ after twerking in front of Moscow cathedral

They've been sentenced to 'corrective labour'

Three Russian students have been kicked out of university and sentenced to 11 months of 'corrective labour' after they filmed themselves twerking in Moscow with a cathedral in the background.

The women posted a video of them dancing in front of Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour to TikTok and then suffered some very serious consequences after traditional groups kicked up a fuss.

Vladimir Putin's Russia is trying to promote a return to 'traditional values', and has himself attended the cathedral on multiple occasions.

As such the three women, believed to be 18, faced criticism from Orthodox campaigners and pressure groups for traditional values who slated the video as 'brainless girls who decided to gain popularity' and accused them of 'shaking their bottoms against the backdrop' of the cathedral.

Traditional values group Sorok Sorokov claimed that this was an 'infection' which 'if left unchecked, will multiply', which sounds quite excessive for a brief video of three women twerking with the cathedral quite far in the background.

The three women were convicted of 'petty hooliganism' and the Stroganov Russian State University of Art and Industry expelled them for 'violating public order and insulting the religious feelings of citizens'.

They have been ordered to spend 11 months going through 'corrective labour' as a punishment for their twerking video which the pressure group claimed was a 'vulgar dance'.

Celebrating their monumental achievement of bringing the hammer down on three students who wanted to do a dance for TikTok, the group thanked law enforcement 'for protecting the rights of believers' and 'protecting public morality'.

When they were kicked out of their university they were told to 'watch your behaviour and do not allow your life to be ruined by stupidity', a message which seems to come a little late now.

Elsewhere in Russia, a former Miss Universe died after an elk crashed through the windshield of her car.

Kseniya Alexandrova and her husband Ilya had been driving when the animal suddenly jumped onto the road in front of them, with the resulting collision seeing the car smash into the elk which struck the 30-year-old model in the head.

Kseniya had got married in March, five months before she died. Her devastated husband, who had been behind the wheel, said: "I didn't have time to do anything."

Meanwhile, Russia's unprovoked invasion of Ukraine has been going on for over three years now without an end in sight.

When he's not implementing harsh policies about 'traditional values', Vladimir Putin is trying to demand that Ukraine hands over territory he hasn't managed to conquer.
