An Italian family were left terrified after their five-year-old son was dragged out two miles to sea while on his lilo.
The sea can be an extremely dangerous place, especially for those who aren't confident swimmers, but that was the reality for a youngster off the coast of Naples.
Its fortunate that the child didn't bump into any of the deadly creatures we see in the sea but the conditions were rough, so much so that his grandmother was also washed away by strong winds and currents after diving in attempting to save him.
Fortunately, the lilo proved to be worth its weight in gold and the five-year-old held on to it like a moth to a flame until a coastguard bravely managed to retrieve the boy and reunite him with his family.

The Italian Coastguard confirmed that they had rescued the grandma two miles from Castellammare di Stabia and 'continues to urge the utmost caution and reminds the public: avoid using inflatable mattresses, flotation devices or small rubber dinghies in strong winds.'
The boy's dad, Gioacchino D'angelo, added: "I want to thank you for saving my son and my mum. Hats off to you, thank you so much!"
Footage from the scene captured the moment that the boy was finally retrieved, still perched upon his lilo, as a coastguard attached himself to a rubber ring of his own before swimming out from the boat.
The coastguard even stopped to take a selfie with the boy and his grandma after his heroic actions saw them both safe, while the captain of the boat let him sit at the front of the boat, which may well have made the five-year-old's dangerous adventure worthwhile.

Both the boy and his grandmother were handed over to the emergency services after their rescue, while the grandfather also received medical assistance on the beach, but it seems as if luckily nobody was harmed in this terrifying ordeal.
Its been a difficult few days for young kids at sea, as a young girl fell from the fourth deck of a Disney cruise ship at the weekend, only for her fearless dad to jump straight in after her and keep her safe until a rescue boat arrived.
Fortunately, the youngster was only stranded for a matter of minutes otherwise things could have been a lot worse.
