Argentinian goalkeeper Emiliano Martinez has stunned fans across the world after winning the Golden Glove award at the 2022 World Cup final.

The Aston Villa keeper took hold of the trophy in front of a screaming crowd and billions of television viewers and placed it over his groin, making out the accolade was in fact a giant, golden, hand-shaped dong.

Qatari officials were seen coolly looking on and managed to maintain their composure in spite of the rather lewd gesture at Doha's Lusail Stadium.

Social media lit up with laughing emojis as fans shared the less than PG-rated moment.

One social media user said: "Emiliano Martinez of Argentina with [the] Golden Glove and [the] Sheikh's reaction. He is wild [as f**k]."

Another added: "Emiliano Martinez with the Golden Glove award as a massive c**k. Lovely."

Antics aside, Martinez proved to be the real hero of Argentina’s penalty shootout victory.

Argentina and France were locked at a 3-3 draw at the final whistle after the game was pushed into extra time.

That meant the final had to go to penalties.

Kylian Mbappe was first up and he had already netted two penalties in the game so far.

Martinez got a hand on the France star's spot-kick, but Mbappe found the back of the net and got his country off the mark in the shootout.

Kingsley Coman was next and he looked nervous as he approached. His penalty went in the same direction as Mbappe's, but, this time, Martinez saved it.

This was followed by an incredible celebration as he danced around, making it clear to the French side watching on that it was a big moment in the shootout.

For Tchouameni's spot-kick, he went one step further.

Martinez rolled the ball away from the Real Madrid midfielder as he was walking to the spot, celebrating with the Argentinian fans whilst doing so.

The cheeky little mind-game paid off.

The sneaky move heaped even more pressure on the Frenchman, who fired his penalty wide.

In all the chaos, he managed to get a yellow card; not that that mattered in the slightest.

Martinez, of course, went on to secure the Golden Glove award for the best keeper during the World Cup.

He received the accolade alongside Lionel Messi, who won the best player.

Enzo Fernandez was crowned the best young player of the tournament and Kylian Mbappe won the Golden Boot.
