Legendary boxer Butterbean is coming out of retirement and wants Jake Paul for one last fight

He's said he's stepping back into the ring next year and he's called out Jake Paul as a potential opponent

Legendary boxer Eric Esch - better known as Butterbean - has announced that he’s stepping out of retirement and back into the ring and it seems he’s got his eyes on Jake Paul for a potential opponent. I bet you weren't expecting to read that today, were you?

Butterbean, whose last fight was in 2013, has an impressive boxing career under his belt - taking part in 91 fights with 77 wins (58 of which were knockouts), four draws and 10 losses.

Now after a decade in retirement, the 56-year-old has announced he will be pulling his gloves on once again to take on an unnamed competitor next year.

Speaking on Instagram, he said: "I'm going to fight one last fight. It's gonna be one year from now.”

He then called out ‘Problem Child’ Paul - adding: "Jake Paul, if you're ready, I'm here for you, my friend. Let's get it on, me and you, Jake Paul."

This isn’t the first time Butterbean has mentioned the YouTuber-turned-boxer, in an interview with the Sun last year, he claimed Paul ‘runs his mouth too much’.

He told the publication: “I’m not a typical boxer, I go out there to fight, I want to knock somebody out. Jake Paul or Mike Tyson.

“Jake Paul runs his mouth too much, he’s never fought nobody, I would love to fight him.

“But I think people would like to see me and Tyson go at it, which would be a hell of a draw.

“Me and Tyson are actually friends but I don’t mind fighting friends.”

He went on to claim that Paul was aware of him and his desire for a fight, while teasing some ‘big names’ interested in a bout.

Speaking in July last year, he said: “He knows about it, I know 100 percent he knows about me challenging him.

“I’m going to wait until I’m closer to being ready but I have had a couple of fight offers, some big names - I don’t want to say who - but I’ve had a couple of contracts sent to me.”

Paul’s career is still in its early days, with seven fights to his name - six of which he won (four by knockout) and one loss.

He hasn’t fought since he lost to Tommy Fury in Saudi Arabia in February.

In August, Paul is set to take on Nate Diaz at the American Airlines Center in Dallas, Texas.
