Fatboy Slim has shown his support for Gary Lineker during a live performance in Manchester on Friday night. Watch below:

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past 24 hours, you may have heard that the BBC announced Match of the Day host Lineker was asked to step back from hosting the show until an agreement was reached on his social media use.

It follows an impartiality row over comments Lineker made about the government's new asylum policy, which he compared to 1930s Germany.

He said it was 'an immeasurably cruel policy directed at the most vulnerable people in language that is not dissimilar to that used by Germany in the 30s'.

The BBC said it had 'been in extensive discussions with Gary and his team in recent days' and considered his recent social media activity where he tweeted criticisms of the British government over the migrant crisis to be in breach of its guidelines.

Gary Lineker is not presenting Match of the Day tonight.

Since the BBC made the announcement, many have rallied around Lineker and shown him support.

One of those is famous DJ Fatboy Slim, who paid 'respect' to the former England footballer during his set at the O2 Victoria Warehouse in Manchester.

The face of the BBC presenter appeared as part of the visual effects on set along with the likes of Prince and Greta Thunberg.

As Lineker's face appeared behind Fatboy Slim, he turned to applaud the pundit, and also encouraged the crowd to do the same, which prompted cheers.

Fatboy Slim shared the video on his Twitter account, saying: "Enough respect #ImWithGary."

The tweet was actually retweeted by the presenter's son, George Lineker, who added 'that's so elite'.

Fatboy Slim evidently does not agree with the BBC's decision.

The BBC has been left in turmoil since it confirmed Lineker would be stepping back from Match of the Day, with presenters and pundits confirming they would not appear on tonight's show.

It all started with MOTD favourite Ian Wright, who tweeted in support of Lineker.

He wrote: "Everybody knows what Match of the Day means to me, but I've told the BBC I won't be doing it tomorrow. Solidarity."

Later on, fellow Match of the Day regular Alan Shearer took to Twitter to confirm that he had informed the BBC he would not be appearing on the show either.

The six commentators who were due to cover matches for Match of the Day this weekend have also announced that they would not be taking part.

Meanwhile, other BBC football shows have also been affected, with Alex Scott announcing she won't be presenting Football Focus, and Jason Mohammad confirming the same with Final Score.
