Mike Tyson appeared to be smoking a joint while taking a smiling selfie with a fan just hours after footage emerged of him punching a plane passenger.
Yesterday, 21 April, a now viral clip did the rounds on social media, showing the boxing champion hitting a passenger on a plane at San Francisco International Airport.
A witness on the flight told TMZ Sports that the 55-year-old boxer was initially okay with him and was patient with his overexcited friend.
However, the outlet was told that the friend continued hassling Tyson by standing over his seat and waving his arms as the boxer sat quietly.
Sources close to the athlete have also said the fan was ‘extremely intoxicated’ and continued to provoke Tyson even after he asked him to stop.
A representative for Tyson added to this, telling LADbible: "Unfortunately, Mr. Tyson had an incident on a flight with an aggressive passenger who began harassing him and threw a water bottle at him while he was in his seat."
A number of photos have since emerged of the former heavyweight as he arrived in Miami just hours after the incident, with one showing him cracking a smile while smoking what appears to be a spliff.
Another shows him holding the supposed spliff while posing for a selfie with fans.
Iron Mike is well known for his cannabis advocacy, and in recent years even launched his own weed-related company, Tyson 2.0.
The clip of the prior plane bust-up has gone viral since it was first released by TMZ yesterday.
A spokesperson for San Francisco Police Department responded to the incident, telling LADbible: "On Wednesday April 20, 2022, at approximately 10:06 pm, San Francisco Police officers assigned to the SFPD Airport Bureau were dispatched to a physical altercation onboard an airplane located at the Domestic Terminal of the San Francisco International Airport.
“Officers arrived and detained two subjects that were believed to be involved in the incident.
“One subject was treated at the scene for non-life-threatening injuries. That subject provided minimal details of the incident and refused to cooperate further with the police investigation.
“Both subjects were released under 849(b) of the California Penal Code pending further investigation.
"The SFPD is aware of video that possibly captured the incident, which surfaced following the initial investigation. That video has been forwarded to the San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office."
LADbible has reached out to San Mateo County Sheriff's Office and airline JetBlue for further comment.
