The Iranian Hulk, Sajad Gharibi, apologised after losing his match in Dubai on Sunday, 31 July. Check out the build up to the fight here:

If there's one thing you expect from a boxing match, it's a decent competition between the two fighters.

However, the Hulk was 'ashamed' to say that his performance at the Wicked N'Bad boxing show was barely passable.

With a name like the Hulk, you'd expect the lad to be able to land a fair few punches.

However, after months of anticipation the Hulk's face-off against Kazakh Titan, Djumanov Almat Bakhytovich, was underwhelming to say the least.

The pair have been rivals for some time, and social media added fuel to the flames, with some heated back and forths that made fans think they were in for a real treat.

The fight wasn't very long lived.

What actually happened is that the heavyweight Hulk kept turning his back on Titan while he was being punched and ultimately lost the fight.

In fact, Hulk's failure to punch back led to him being given a time-out early on in the round, which seems a bit like being put on the naughty step for not doing anything.

Still, the fight resumed and the Hulk traded a couple of punches before Titan made a right-hand jab that ended the match.

Ending shortly after the first round, it wasn't the fight revellers had expected, with Hulk himself apologising after the fight: "I have nothing to say but I am ashamed and I apologise to the Iranian people."

However, his coach explained a little bit more about the Hulk's patchy performance, saying: "Thank you for your good and bad messages. I just wanted to give a brief explanation about the fight. The fight was set before Sajad came to me and he signed the contract. There was no way to cancel it unless he paid a big fine for the cancellation.

"We had a bad situation. Sajad came to Tehran for his training [but] we had a financial problem, the sponsor didn't keep their word. In short, Sajad trained with me for only two weeks and I told him he was not ready to fight. But I had to be with him because he had to fight and somebody had to coach him," he continued.

So it seems he might've just needed more prep time – maybe he'll sort a rematch against Titan soon.
