Well, he is the Most Electrifying Man in Sports Entertainment, after all.

The former WWE champion turned A-list actor appeared in the centre of the field at SoFi Stadium in California to give the teams a send-off they deserved before the game.

Announcing the home team, he said: “Finally, the Super Bowl has come back to Los Angeles,

“It is time, time for a team to unleash a soul-crushing, unrelenting defence, a head-spinning onslaught of an offence, and take care of unfinished business right here, right now…

“Ladies and gentlemen, the champions of the NFC, your Los Angeles Rams!

Then, turning to their opposition, Rocky said: “It is time, time for a team that has risen from the ashes to become one of the most feared, dominant, absolutely electrifying teams in the NFL.

“Time to give their city their first Super Bowl win in franchise history – ladies and gentlemen, the champions of the AFC, your Cincinnati Bengals!”

With the crowd already significantly worked up, The Rock then delivered a final statement about then game itself, providing a perfect set-up for the action to come.

He said: “It is time, it is time for all of us here and millions around the world to bear witness to these incredible players who will leave every ounce of sweat, guts, and pride and legacy on this hallowed field, because that is what champions do.

“Ladies and gentlemen, it is my honour to say, finally it is time for the Super Bowl!”

It remains to be seen what the outcome of the game will be, but if Johnson’s speech didn’t get the players fired right up for the battle to come, nothing at all will.

The speech went down well on social media, too.

The Rock’s former employers at World Wrestling Entertainment wrote: “That was ELECTRIFYING”

Another comment on Twitter read: “Nobody, and I mean NOBODY knows how to work a crowd like Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson.”

He even delivered the People's Eyebrow.

However, it didn’t go far enough for some fans. One added: “If the rock would’ve said “CAN YOU SMEEEEEEEELLLLL WHAT THE ROCK IS COOKIN” i woulda went crazy”

Of course, you can never please everyone, even if you are one of the world’s biggest stars announcing the start of one of the biggest sporting events in the world.
