Cardi B And Nicki Minaj Brawl At New York Fashion Week
If you play with fire, you're gonna get burned - and Cardi B learned the full meaning of this saying at a New York Fashion Week party after starting a fight with fellow rapper Nicki Minaj.
The 25-year-old singer was spotted with a huge lump above her eye as she made a swift exit from the Harper's Bazaar's Icons bash in New York City's Plaza Hotel last night (September 8) which, according to TMZ, was the result of a Nicki Minaj personnel shaped elbow to the face. A consequence of an attempt to start a scrap with the Anaconda singer.
An anonymous eyewitness claims Cardi lunged at Nicki and tried to 'kick and punch' the rapper, leading to Nicki's security breaking up the two women and Cardi throwing a shoe at her opponent.
As you can see by the video above, Nicki remained calm during the otherwise tumultuous altercation as the security escorted Cardi out of the building, wearing one shoe, a black eye and slightly less dignity.
The madness reportedly unfolded at 11.30pm, around 45 mins before Cardi posted the following scathing Instagram post aimed directly at Nicki:

And so it begins. As user Dr. Ralph suggested: "CARDI DROP A DISS TRACK". With the way rapper beef is normally stewed, this wouldn't be beyond the realm of possibility pretty damn soon. Sounds like Cardi's pretty bitter about the whole thing.
The fight comes hot off the heels of this year's MTV Video Music Awards where the I Like It star declared, "Welcome to New York, everybody - I am the empress" - a statement many assume was Cardi throwing shade at Nicki, who recently dropped her fourth studio album Queen.
While this was highly speculative, it would certainly make sense following last night's scrap. TMZ went on to describe how Cardi initially approached Nicki's table to "address the lies she was spreading".
Following what we're now calling "shoe-gate" (you heard it hear first), Cardi elaborated on these "lies" with her lengthy Insta post. Aside from a statement showing she'd suffered no injuries from the fight, Nicki's remained pretty quiet about the whole thing.
But if we're going by Nicki's and Cardi's past battles, we have a feeling this is only the beginning.
