Steven Tyler Reckons He’s Spent ‘About $2 Million’ On Drugs In His Life
Plenty of rock'n'roll stars have boasted ingloriously about their drug intake over the years, but few have come close to the dramatic efforts of Boston veterans Aerosmith - and particularly their frontman Steven Tyler.
The 70-year-old singer spilled his guts on The Late Late Show hosted by James Corden on Thursday night, revealing perhaps a little more than he'd intended.
During the segment 'Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts', the singer and father to actress Liv Tyler was given the option to answer how much he'd spent on drugs throughout his life and career or eat some head cheese.
Eagerly choosing the former, he revealed he'd spent 'about $2 million' (nearly £1.5 million) on substances, adding: "I snorted half of Peru." Yikes!
While the figure might seem outlandish, both Steve and his guitarist Joe Perry were dubbed the 'Toxic Twins' in the 70s because of the sheer amount of substances they used to get through. Plus they were in Aerosmith, which meant they had an endless supply of cash, women and drugs. So yeah, not totally out of the question.
Of course, the game didn't end there. Instead of chowing down on a dead caterpillar, the singer also admitted hitting on one of his daughter's friends as well as actress Cameron Diaz. "And I got in a lot of shit for that too," he added.
However, Tyler did draw the line eventually, opting to chew on some cow intestine instead of rank his band members in order of talent. Which is fair enough, really - because let's face it, we got all the juicy stuff.
James Corden wasn't free from the firing line either, and was handed a shot glass full of Vienna sausage juice and asked to spill his guts about how much he got paid to take part in a private 'Carpool Karaoke'.
He said: "Somebody got in touch with me. I did a private 'Carpool Karaoke' for somebody's birthday. And there is just no way in the world I will ever tell anybody how much I got paid for it."
Instead Corden bit the bullet, took the shot, and immediately spewing it back up, much to Tyler's horror. When they said 'spill your guts', they didn't mean literally.
