The debate around whether animals should be kept in theme parks, zoos and the like continues to rage. But let's put that to one side for the moment and celebrate the birth of a brand new tiger cub at Queensland's Dreamworld.

The theme park has just announced the little one was born last week and weighed in at just over one kilogram.

Writing on their website, Dreamworld said: "Storks have made three very special deliveries to the Dreamworld family over the last month, with another set of paws arriving at Tiger Island on Sunday 26 May 2019.

"Our latest addition will soon join his two nephews (born 26 April 2019 to mum Adira) in the Tiger Island Nursery as they find their roar together.

"The cubs help support the Dreamworld Wildlife Foundation's global conservation initiatives for tigers in the wild."

The two cubs born earlier in April have been placed into the park's nursery where visitors will be able to see them.

The unnamed newest member of the tribe will be looked after for the next two weeks before making his big debut.

Tiger Island Manager Patrick Martin-Vegue told the Courier Mail: "As a single cub, socialisation is typically more difficult but with the arrival of Adira's litter just one month prior, he will be growing up alongside them and have a more enriching life with other cats around his age."

Dreamworld is hoping to boost the number of Sumatran tigers in the world, with less than 400 remaining in the wild.

Their natural habitat, located in Sumatra, has been targeted with deforestation and animal poaching, meaning these glorious animals are being threatened on a daily basis.

The World Wildlife Fund says: "Despite increased efforts in tiger conservation-including strengthening law enforcement and antipoaching capacity-a substantial market remains in Sumatra and the rest of Asia for tiger parts and products."

So you've only got to wait a couple of days before the newest tiger is premiered to the world.
