Mum goes on 48-hour holidays for £16 because it's 'cheaper than going around Manchester'

A woman has shared her tips for having a quick and cheap getaway abroad.

We all love a cheap getaway but sometimes it can be difficult booking time off from work. However, one woman was able to find a way to go on incredible 48-hour adventures for as little as £16 and ensure she’s back home in time for her night shifts.

Anne-Marie Moss, a 45-year-old mum-of-three from Manchester, has managed to go on eight short trips over the last two years which set her back only £994 for all her return flights and accommodation.

Considering some people spend this much on a single trip, this is very impressive.

Moss realised how easy it is to find quick trips away at bargain prices after booking a trip to take her daughter, Trinity, 20, plus her friends, Imogen, 24 and Tianna, 23, to Karaków, Poland, for the Christmas markets in December 2021 on £16 return flights.

Moss flew back to Kraków in March 2022 to reunite with an old school friend of 30 years, Rachel, 44 and the pair managed to get a £35 return flight. Their spontaneous reunion took them to the Tantra Mountains in Poland and they visited a thermal spa.

They went back again less than a month later and went kayaking, quad biking and cycling in just 48 hours - spending just £120.

Kraków has now become a hot spot for Anne-Marie, as she has travelled back again more recently, this time with new friends along the way.

In May and June 2022 she went back to Poland with school mum, Jill and her family. Moss also had more foreign excursions with her twin sister, Donna, 45, and their daughters Trinity, and Jasmine, both 21, in December 2022.

With her next trip already booked for May, Anne-Marie recently spent 48-hours living her best life in Palma, Spain, where she was treated to foot massages and watching a boat race last month. The trip cost ‘about £110 each with flights and taxis’.

And in February, she spent two nights in Bucharest, Romania, with Jill and Elisabeth, both 50.

“It was fabulous,” Jill said.

“I’m often hopping off the flight and heading straight to my shift,” she explained.

“It started off when I found £16 return flights to go to Kraków, Poland. I fell in love with it.

“After we came back home, I wanted to travel again.

“We just came back from 24 hour in Palma, Spain...It was about £110 each in total.

“It’s cheaper than going round Manchester.”

You can say that again!

So, where are Moss and co off to next, you ask? She has planned a 48-hour trip to Marseille in France with her friends for May 2023.

“I work shift work, so I usually go mid-week," she added.

“I try and get an early flight out and then try and get the last flight home.

“We just have backpacks."
