It can be a daunting experience posting on social media about your weight loss transformation.
You might have lost a few pounds here or there, or you could look like a completely different person; either way it can be scary putting that story out into the ether because you might not know how people will react.
But one bloke is receiving nothing but love after posting his physical overhaul on Reddit.
User Apolecia wrote on the social networking site: "I've lost a lot of weight, a lot of sadness, and a little facial hair. I've gained a whole new appreciation for life. Remember to always love yourself."
The transformation is nothing short of incredible.
He's received more than 6,000 comments on his pictures, with many people comparing him to Thor, a Disney prince and Fabio.
"You're like the epitome of masculine and feminine and the same time," wrote one person. "Some Fabio shit for sure. Good for you."
Another said: "Seriously dude that is one epic jawline, I'm usually a big supporter of a good beard but you are doing yourself a disservice hiding that piece of cut marble."
He's revealed that the turnaround can be credited to a few things.
"I went from binge drinking at least once or twice a week to having drank about a dozen times or so last year, it makes a big difference!" he wrote on Reddit.
"I try to balance things if I notice I'm eating too much greasy food, but really just cutting back on the extra snacks that tend to be high in sugar. Mainly moderation though. I adjusted my diet to fit my schedule. I added in exercises starting with walking and push ups and now YouTube videos of HIIT workouts and yoga has kept me going through the winter."
When asked how he not only managed to lose a shit ton of weight but also reversed the signs of aging, he replied: "A shave helps with that. Also exercise and a better diet helps a lot with skin health. I've been moisturizing the past month as well."
Naturally, when someone gains or drops a lot of pounds, their body ends up with excess skin or signs or stretch marks, which is something that user Apolecia is still grappling with.
He adds: "I have stretch marks from gaining [the weight] quickly. I'm a bit self-conscious of it but my obliques and upper abs are somewhat defined."
