A dog that has been compared to Will Ferrell has become a social media sensation after users were left in stitches at the likeness to the famous actor.
Layla the Goldendoodle — a mix between a Golden Retriever and a Poodle — from Houston, Texas, has become a star all thanks to her uncanny resemblance to the 54-year-old funnyman.
Layla's owner Thomas Green, 28, uploaded a snap of the four-month-old pooch in his car on 1 February, suggesting she was the Anchorman star's furry doppelgänger.
The tweet has since gone viral, racking up over 262,000 likes and over 23,000 retweets.
Thomas captioned the post: "Someone said my dog looks like Will Ferrell and I can’t unsee it now [sic]."
Speaking after the image went viral, Thomas explained: "It was my ex girlfriend who told me she looked like Will Ferrell but cute. I immediately laughed, pondered on it and was like 'Oh my God, she really does in the face'.
"I posted it late at night and woke up to 2,000-3,000 likes and was like 'Oh ok cool'. Throughout the day it just kept blowing up. I definitely didn’t expect the tweet to go viral.
"Twitter loves it, of course some people are disagreeing but you can’t please everyone."
Thousands of social media users agreed with Thomas' ex-girlfriend, seeing a distinct resemblance between the furry pooch and Ferrell.
One user wrote: "I'm not saying it's the same person. I'm just saying we've never seen both of them in the same place at the same time..." Good point.
Retweeting the original photo, someone else added: "OMG this is so accurate."
A third user added: "I was about to said 'idk how to say this.. but this is Will Farrell' & then I saw the caption Lmao [sic]."
"Your dog is better looking than Will," joked someone else.
While a fifth person said: "This particular breed freaks me out because I always see a human face when I look at this type of dog."
Other Twitter users were quick to share pictures of their own dogs alongside explanations of who they look like.
Some of the pooches are said to look like Jonah Hill, Liam Neeson and even Frank Gallagher.
