Lad Visits Sick Grandma In Hospital Halfway Through His Wedding Day

A tearjerker...

It's not every day you get married. And when you do get married, you'll want each and every person you love there in attendance.

For 28-year-old Rob Kirkhouse, that wasn't possible as his grandmother, Glenys, 79, ended up in hospital after a nasty fall in her home just days before the wedding on 26th August.

She fractured her femur and required surgery. Her family had hoped the hospital would be able to operate early and she'd possibly be able to make it to the church in a wheelchair, but it wasn't so.

"My nan was devastated she couldn't attend and we were gutted because we're a close family and really wanted her to be there," Rob, an adult nurse student from Swansea, told TheLADbible.

Glenys was gutted to be missing the big day but was happy in the knowledge her grandson was getting married to the love of his life Clare, 29.

Months before the wedding, the couple had decided they'd want to take 10 minutes to themselves between the church and the venue just to gather themselves.

But when the time came, they decided to do something different altogether.

They decided to pull up outside Morriston Hospital in Swansea where Glenys was being treated to surprise her on their big day.

Rob continued: "It was a surreal moment as we rushed through the hospital corridors to the ward my nan was on.

"As we walked in, my nan was shocked and started to cry and you could see from her face it meant the world to her that we'd popped in to see her."

They introduced themselves as the new Mr and Mrs Kirkhouse, gave her a hug and a kiss and had to be off as their guests were waiting at the reception.

"It was short and sweet but a moment neither of us will ever forget," Rob added.

Someone been chopping onions, or what?
