Restaurant Boss Hits Back After Honeymooners Charged 400 Euros For A 'Quick Snack' On Holiday

Restaurant Boss Hits Back After Honeymooners Charged 400 Euros For A 'Quick Snack' On Holiday

A passionate Greek restaurant owner has hit back after being accused of slapping tourists with ridiculous bills

A passionate Greek restaurant owner has hit back after being accused of slapping tourists with ridiculous bills.

Dimitrios Kalamaras owns the now infamous DK Oyster in Mykonos, which made headlines earlier this week when a couple of honeymooners claimed they were charged €400 for some Oysters, a beer and an Aperol spritz.

Dimitrios Kalamaras spoke out about the couple.

Lindsay and Alex were just two recent customers of DK Oyster who complained about the prices, with dozens leaving reviews on TripAdvisor claiming the restaurant failed to provide a menu with prices on it.

Lindsay said: "My husband ordered a beer, and I asked for a cocktail menu and he came back with the beer but I had to ask again for a cocktail menu and he started rhyming off different kinds of alcohol he had, vodka, gin but I asked for a menu.

"I didn't know how it was so difficult to see what they had."

She then went on to slate the €400 bill she received for what was just a 'snack'.

Dimitrios has now hit back, defending his 'honour' and calling the customers just 'influencers looking for free meals.'

Dimitrios has insisted that these claims are 'false' and that there are three blackboards by the entrance of his restaurant displaying the prices.

Lindsay says they were charged 400 euros.

Dimitrios explained that it was the 'concept' of the restaurant that made it more expensive than a local shop.

The owner added: "Unfortunately, all of us who work in the hospitality sector have been approached by notorious 'influencers' who instead of making their living by advertising products and services to their audience they put pressure on certain businesses for exorbitant fees and free meals.

"In DK Oyster we have advertised in the ways we consider suitable for our restaurant, and we will not succumb to the influencers who have been attracted to the beautiful island of Mykonos.

A number of reviews were submitted to Trip Advisor.

"A very popular destination for the people that certain influencers would very much like to mingle with."

Dimitrios went on to add that one of the honeymooners, Lindsay, was at fault: "She claims that she 'repeatedly asked for a cocktail menu', and adds that 'the server didn’t seem to want to provide one'.

"Despite that, she placed an order. An influencer, an experienced well traveller person who makes a living through their experiences in the world did what most adults in the right mind would not do, ordered drinks and food from a waiter who refused to present a menu."

He added that he 'cannot stop every single person entering our premises and explain the significance of such a practice' and that customers should ask the manager if they've not seen a menu.
