A new Christmas advert that highlights the issue of loneliness during the festive period has left viewers in tears.

Some are calling it 'better than any John Lewis advert', which is a big statement to make.

Have a look yourself:

A pub in Northern Ireland has taken social media by storm after posting its teary two minute advert on Friday (24 November).

The ad by Charlie’s Bar in Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, shows an elderly man leaving his home holding a bunch of flowers.

He makes his way to the graveyard before taking his hat off and putting the flowers down next to what is presumed to be his former loved one.

The lonely man then walks over to the pub, where he meets a young couple and their dog, at the front door of Charlie’s Bar.

The couple kindly hold the door for the man, who enters the pub.

He is then handed a pint of Guinness by a smiling barman while taking his seat alone in front of the fire.

The couple’s dog then walks over to join the man, who is then also joined by the young couple themselves.

The video ends with a quote from WB Yeats: “There are no strangers here, only friends you haven’t met yet.”

"Christmas can be such a joyful time for some and painfully hard for others," the pub wrote in the caption.

"One things for sure - you’ll always receive a warm welcome when you walk through our doors.

"We will be open on Christmas Day, so if you are alone this festive season, drop in for a chat."

It has left viewers in tears.

Viewers were left touched after watching the Christmas ad, with some calling it better than anything John Lewis has ever done.

"This will give the John Lewis add a run for its money," one person wrote.

"This Christmas ad for a pub in Enniskillen is better than anything John Lewis has ever put out," added a second.

"This is unreal, not often an ad makes me cry," a third added.

"One of the things we love so much about Fermanagh is the community, this is a good reminder that for many people the festive period can be very lonely, reach out the hand of friendship if you can,” someone else said.

"Wowwwww! A beautiful storyline… looking forward to another night at Charlie’s soon," another commented.
