Football fans united in a bit of schadenfreude yesterday after Neymar's side were booted out of the World Cup.
Brazil's shock exit after being beat 2-1 by Belgium last night saw thousands of fans turn to Twitter to gloat.
But it wasn't just the fact that one of the favourites had been kicked out the competition that got people posting, many fans were over the moon to see Neymar sent home after he come in for some heavy criticism for his actions during the tournament.
Both fans and pundits called out the player for his...shall we say theatrical response to some tackles during several games and many were glad to see the back of him:
I think #Neymar's play-acting in the group games worked against him..when he had a genuine foul, the referees were quick to dismiss it..#BRA #WorldCup

Not only is he heading back to Brazil trophy-less, but the poor bugger has been getting absolutely slaughtered on Twitter and become a meme. No one wants that to be their World Cup legacy, do they?
'The Neymar Challenge' even became a thing, with people posting videos of their best drop and rolls on Twitter:

Some fans even went as far as to say that Neymar's action on the pitch had ruined Brazil's solid reputation and lost them respect others branded him a 'disgrace'.
Naturally, while Brazil being knocked out is undoubtedly good news for fans of the teams that remain in the competition Brazilian fans were heartbroken. One took to Twitter to say: "Sad and annoyed, no tears from me but this hurts. Our finishing was shambolic throughout the World Cup."
While another added: "Still can't accept that Brazil is out of World Cup 2018. So many chances on the 2nd half. What a sad day."
Ah well, there's always World Cup 2022, fellas.
