An Instagram influencer has apologised after she was blasted for writing her account handle on chalk cliffs at a Dorset beauty spot.

Alexandra Milam, 24, was on a photoshoot at the Jurassic Coast World Heritage site where she was being pictured in front of the 180-million-year-old rocks.

Following the shoot, it's claimed that Alexandra scrawled her Instagram handle on to the cliffs, leaving Lulworth Rangers and teams of volunteers to clear it up.

Since learning of her mistake, Alexandra has offered to help clean the coast, donated to one of the beach cleaners and apologised for what she did.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, she said: "I feel awful because of this horrific event in my life and I wish to express my deep regret for the damage by my name written on the Jurassic Coast.

"I have learned a huge lesson, one which will forever mark me. I reached back to the community to meet all the people who sacrificed their precious time to fix this disaster.

"I want to spread the awareness to everyone who doesn't understand the beauty and importance of this place. I am disappointed that I didn't understand it at the time and I don't want anyone else making the same mistake.

"Maybe nothing will undo the damage the writing caused but I will try to make things better and I hope people will give me the chance."

Anna Taylor was one of the volunteers clearing the area. She told LADbible: "This is a UNESCO World Heritage site that we are caring for and protecting.

"She is not the only person to have vandalised this area. The utter disrespect of this area with litter and vandalism needs to stop."
