Mum In Hysterics Over Size Of New Wardrobe She Bought For 6ft 2in Son

A mum has been left in hysterics after accidentally ordering a four foot wardrobe that was fit for a toddler - not her teenage son...

When the white wardrobe was assembled - schoolboy Finley, who stands at six feet and two inches tall, towered over it and was unable to put any clothes inside.

Vicky Jewell-Store, 39, who works in healthcare, thought she had found a 'good value for money' deal when she purchased the wardrobe online for £130 ($170).

She checked the width measurements before purchasing but 'didn't think' about the height. It would look pretty decent with two snazzy little drawers as well.

The wardrobe was so small that 16-year-old Finley was unable to hang any of his clothing inside. Fortunately (for Finley) it has since been sold and replaced with an appropriately sized wardrobe for the teen.

Vicky from Scunthorpe, Lancs, said: "It is funny because I checked the width to make sure it would fit in the alcove but I didn't even think to check the height. We live in a house that has tall ceilings so I never thought about height being an issue.

"When it arrived in November, I quizzed the delivery driver when because it arrived in two small boxes. I asked him if he was sure that he hasn't left any other boxes in the van. His words were 'yes love, that's it - you'll be amazed how much they can fit in boxes nowadays'."

Vicky thought she'd bagged herself a bargain.

She continued: "As my husband David, 34, began to assemble it - we joked about it being too small. Two hours later when it was all put together - we realised it was a wardrobe for a nursery.

"We found it hilarious and Finley took it in very good humour once he knew we weren't going to make him keep it. He couldn't even hang his clothes in it as it was too small. I was laughing all night and sent it around to my friends and family - one of which said she almost wet herself!"

Vicky then sold it for £100 ($130) to her sister Alexandra Duncan, 27, who has two young children.

Luckily, the mum has learned from her mistakes because she went on to check the dimensions before purchasing Finley's second wardrobe.
