A street in Bolton has eight cottages up for sale that cost £450k altogether - the same as some one-bedroom apartments in London.

The cottages, which were originally built for former mill workers, will be sold for between £40,000 and £60,000 each, but whoever ends up buying them must reserve them all at the same time - which would set you back £450,000.

The houses have been compared to some one-bedroom apartments in the UK's capital with places in Fulham going on the market for the same amount.

According to the MailOnline, six of the cottages have two bedrooms and the other two only have a single bedroom. One of the properties is in need of a total refurbishment, while the others are in a 'habitable condition' but need 'sprucing up'.

Edward Feather, associate director of Pugh Auction, said: "Seven of the cottages are habitable but all of them need updating and one of them (lot 70) needs total refurbishment."

He added: "The row of cottages is close to Chorley Old Road which is a busy residential area with shop and lots of facilities."

The houses were used for employees who worked up the road at Nelson Mill which was built in 1861, with a second following ten years later.

Then the first factory was closed in 1952 and the second closed in the 1960s.

The site was taken over in 1985 by Hargreaves and Hamilton, who are still there now offering nationwide machining support for commercial installations.

The houses have been described as being perfect for first time buyers but the only issue is the fact that all eight of the properties must be reserved for sales to take place.

Mr Feather added: "While the eight cottages are being offered individually, it's a condition of sale that all eight properties need to meet their individual reserves for sales of any of the properties to take place.

"If any of the eight properties do not meet their reserve then none of the properties will be sold, regardless of whether their reserves have been met or not.

"The reserve prices range from £40,000 to £60,000 and the total guide price for all eight properties is £450,000."
