Woman gets pinned under sofa after she tried to move it herself because she ‘didn’t need a man’

Woman gets pinned under sofa after she tried to move it herself because she ‘didn’t need a man’

Sara eventually called emergency services after being trapped for 90 minutes.

A woman found herself in a tricky situation after she tried to move a couch by herself.

Shifting furniture can be a huge pain when the item is particularly large.

If you've ever tried to relocate a fridge, TV, washing machine or anything particularly bulky then you'll know that it's the worst experience.

However, Sara Aziz thought she was up to the task and opted to do it herself.

"I got a new sofa so that's why I was getting rid of the old one," the Essex woman said.

"It was an L-shaped three-seater and I was moving it because it was sitting in my living room for a month and it's just been an eyesore.

"I was wearing my silver glittery Crocs at the time, they're one of my favourite kinds of shoes to wear.

"I go everywhere in these they're like my staple shoes because they're so comfy.

"I thought 'You know what? I can do this, I'm an adult, I don't need no man, girl power' kind of thing.

"It was quite heavy. When I lifted it I thought 'I have got this'.

"I spent a good 20 minutes heaving it around. I managed to get it out of the living room door and I was about half-way down the stairs [when] it was wedged between the walls.

"I shimmied underneath it to try and angle it a little bit better and that's when I just went.

"One minute I was up and the next minute I was down. I fell on my back, which hurt, and because the sofa was too low down I couldn't get back up again."

Thankfully for the 30-year-old, she had her phone in her bra and she was able to call her family to come and help her.

She alerted her dad and sister about her predicament and they said they would be there as soon as they could.

However, her father clearly didn't realise how dire the situation was as he continued his daily shop at Tesco.

After being stuck for around 90 minutes, Sara ended up calling emergency services for help.

Sara said: "When they lifted the sofa off me I walked back up the stairs so they could get rid of the sofa.

"I took the picture of the fireman on the stairs as I knew my sisters wouldn't believe it - and I thought he was quite handsome.

"You couldn't make my life up."
